#MergerMondays: Indigenous Pact + Guardiant Health
Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we pause to recognize Indigenous resilience, sovereignty, and the ongoing work to build institutions rooted in community. It is an apt moment to reflect on a bold step forward in tribal healthcare: the merger of Indigenous Pact and Guardiant Health into Indigenous Pact Community Care.
Back in June 2024, these two entities came together to fuse Guardiant’s virtual-first, always-available care infrastructure with Indigenous Pact’s mission of Native-led, culturally grounded health services. Their goal: to bridge gaps in specialty and primary care for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities, ensuring care that is locally anchored and nationally supported.
And just over a year later, the early results are deeply encouraging. A recent update (published three weeks ago) highlights how Tribal Nations are seeing expanded access to both primary and specialty care, stronger continuity for chronic conditions, and care models co-designed with Indigenous leaders to reflect cultural values and Tribal sovereignty. The same report notes a drop in emergency-room dependence and a rise in preventive care participation — signs of real, systemic progress.
Why does this matter? Because for too long, healthcare for Indigenous communities has been underfunded, fragmented, and externally controlled. Indigenous Pact and Guardiant’s unified model is helping flip that narrative by centering Indigenous leadership, strengthening local clinic capacity, and building systems that reinvest in Tribal communities.
So on this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we lift up the leaders, healers, and innovators making this change possible. The work of Indigenous Pact Community Care, built on trust, culture, and community, reminds us that health equity is possible when it’s community-led.
