#MergerMondays: Senior Care

If you’ve ever watched two puzzle pieces click together perfectly, you know the quiet thrill of things falling into place. This week, we’re celebrating organizations who are doing just that–coming together so their strengths, resources, and communities click perfectly into place.  This week’s round-up celebrates organizations coming together to strengthen services for older adults to ensure seniors are able to live with dignity and connection.

In Wisconsin, two trusted neighbors have officially joined hands: Elmbrook Senior Taxi and New Berlin Senior Taxi are now one family, Elmbrook New Berlin Senior Taxi. For more than 30 years, they’ve helped seniors and adults with disabilities maintain independence through safe, affordable rides. Now, with ten cars instead of six and an expanded service area, even more people will see familiar faces at the wheel, hear the same friendly voices on the phone, and know that help is just a call away—proof that a merger can mean more capacity without losing the personal touch.

Nationally, the Alliance for Lifetime Income (ALI)—a nonprofit dedicated to educating consumers on protected retirement income—will join LL Global (home to LIMRA and LOMA) by August 31st. ALI’s campaigns have reached millions, making the complex topic of lifetime income tangible through stories, tools, and real-life examples. Now, paired with LL Global’s deep well of research and industry training, the goal is to empower even more people to retire with confidence.

In Billings, Montana, a joyful community gathering marked the launch of Allies in Aging, born from the merger of Big Sky Senior Services and Adult Resource Alliance. The merger reduces overhead, strengthens programs, and ensures services like Meals on Wheels continue uninterrupted. Months of careful planning mean that programs and new collaborations will open doors for even more support. Leaders say their driving hope is that every senior feels seen, valued, and cared for.

Across the country, the trend is clear: a new Ziegler report shows record numbers of nonprofit senior living providers affiliating or merging–784 transactions this year alone–as they seek stability and growth in challenging times. For many, it’s about more than the survival of one organization; it’s about stewarding missions into the future so older adults continue to have places and programs that feel like home.
